[AUTOHOME News] On August 19, on the eve of the opening of the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show, we photographed the all-new mid-to-large SUV under SAIC Volkswagen, the Volkswagen ID.ERA 8X, near the exhibition hall. This model will make its debut at the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show which opens on August 21.
As the model captured this time is covered with camouflage, we view it in combination with official images. The ID.ERA 8X is equipped with the Universal Light Wing full-width light strip, paired with the iconic L-shaped daytime running lights, which further improves the recognition of the vehicle's front face. It is worth mentioning that the car also offers a Star Sea Blue color option.
The new car continues the design style of the Volkswagen ID.ERA 9X. The two-spoke multifunctional steering wheel, magic instrument screen, Smart Surface magic door panel screen and 15.6-inch 2.5K dual connected central control screens create a good sense of technology. At the same time, it adopts a five-seat layout, and its trunk is expected to have more impressive space performance.
In terms of dimensions, its length, width and height are 5020/1997/1750mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2970mm, and it is positioned as a mid-to-large SUV. In terms of power, the new car adopts 1.5T range-extended powertrain, the maximum power of the range extender is 105kW, and the peak power of the motor can reach 220kW. In terms of range, the ID.ERA 8X provides two battery versions of 51.1kWh and 65.2kWh for selection. Among them, the 51.1kWh version has two WLTC pure electric ranges of 275km and 260km, and the 65.2kWh version has two WLTC pure electric ranges of 330km and 345km. According to official data, the 51.1kWh battery pack has a CLTC pure electric range of more than 340km, and its comprehensive range exceeds 1400km; the 65.2kWh version has a CLTC pure electric range of more than 400km, and its comprehensive range exceeds 1500km. In terms of chassis, the ID.ERA 8X is equipped with Xingyun Digital Chassis, which relies on the VMC intelligent chassis control center to realize millisecond-level full-domain dynamic adjustment. At the hardware level, it is equipped with dual-chamber air suspension and intelligent preview magic carpet system, which can perceive the road conditions ahead in advance and actively adjust the suspension status.
