[AUTOHOME Official New Car Images] Recently, Porsche released official images of the manual 911 Carrera S. Previously, the facelifted 911 Carrera S was only offered with an 8-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox, leaving many car fans disappointed. In response to public demand, Porsche has reintroduced the 6-speed manual variant of the Carrera S, which is exclusive to the North American market and named the 911 Carrera S MT Package Edition. Deliveries are scheduled to start before the end of 2026, with the hardtop version starting at $169,450 (approximately RMB 1.1428 million), and the convertible version starting at $183,350 (approximately RMB 1.2365 million).
Within the 992.2-generation 911 product lineup, the positioning of this new model is equivalent to that of the Carrera T relative to the base Carrera. It targets users who pursue higher driving engagement but cannot afford the GT3 Touring, filling the market gap left by the Carrera GTS which canceled the manual option after hybridization, and can fully be regarded as an "affordable GT3".
The new car comes standard with 4-way adjustable Sport Seats Plus, titanium exhaust, SportDesign front bumper, and exclusive red "S" logo at the rear. The interior adopts checkered fabric seats matched with chalk-colored stitching and seat belts, and is equipped with the same walnut shift knob as the Carrera T. Users can also opt for door sill lights that project 6-speed shift patterns, carbon fiber bucket seats and ceramic composite brake system, the latter of which is not available on the regular Carrera T.
On the power side, the new model is equipped with a 3.0T twin-turbo non-hybrid horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 353kW. It is only offered in rear-wheel drive version, and no four-wheel drive version has been launched. Porsche has not even announced the official acceleration performance of this car, which obviously prioritizes driving pleasure over extreme performance data in terms of product definition.
The upgrade of the MT kit is far more than replacing the manual gearbox: the new car comes standard with rear-wheel steering system, sports suspension that can lower the body by 10mm, and exclusive exhaust tuning. This manual Carrera S weighs only 1509kg, only 5kg heavier than the Carrera T, but its power output is 67kW higher, so its power-to-weight ratio performance is quite impressive.
