[AUTOHOME News] The product plan for Volvo's brand-new entry-level pure electric SUV has been exposed recently. The EX50 is expected to debut as the direct successor to the EX40, positioned as an entry-level crossover pure electric SUV. With comprehensive upgrades in size and technical configurations, its price will even be lower than that of the current EX40 on sale.
According to the information disclosed so far, the EX50 will be officially unveiled in autumn 2027, built on the same SPA3 platform as the EX60. The overall length and height of the vehicle will be higher than those of the current EX40, which better meets the usage needs of users in overseas markets including North America.

The new model will also come standard with an 800V high-voltage electrical architecture. In terms of pricing, the current EX40 has a starting price of 56,545 US dollars, which is only 3,250 US dollars lower than the higher-positioned EX60, leading to obvious overlap in product segments. The target price range of the EX50 is between 40,000 and 50,000 US dollars, with a significant downward adjustment in price, making its product positioning much clearer.
An official spokesperson for Volvo did not give a targeted response to information related to the EX50, only stating publicly that the brand will continue to invest in expanding its pure electric product lineup, and more official parameters will be gradually disclosed as the release date approaches.
