[AUTOHOME Overseas Spy Shots] Recently, spy shots of the track-focused high-performance derivative of the Ferrari 12Cilindri have been unveiled. The new model still adopts a V12 naturally aspirated engine, which is expected to have its power increased to over 860 horsepower. It is fitted with a brand-new aerodynamic kit, and a simulated manual transmission is expected to be available as an option.

Judging from the details of the exterior spy shots, the new model comes with a full set of competition-oriented aerodynamic kits compared to the standard 12Cilindri, with modifications concentrated in two core areas: the front and rear ends. Small canards are added on both sides of the front bumper, which can regulate driving airflow, increase front axle downforce, and optimize high-speed cornering stability.

The overall body silhouette maintains the basic proportions of the 12Cilindri, a two-door front-engine GT. Under the camouflage, it can be seen that the chassis and wheel arch areas have also been targeted optimized for heat dissipation and airflow, which conforms to the upgrade logic of Ferrari's successive generations of V12 performance versions, following the modification route of the 599 GTO, F12 tdf, and 812 Competizione.

The modifications at the rear end are more noticeable. It is equipped with a significantly enlarged ducktail spoiler, which is more aggressive in shape than the standard version, and does not adopt the huge high-mounted rear wing used on GT3 racing cars, taking into account the visual balance of road GT models.

In terms of power, the standard 12Cilindri is equipped with a 6.5L naturally aspirated V12 engine, with a maximum power of 830 horsepower and a peak torque of 678 N·m. The engine's redline speed reaches as high as 9250 rpm, with no turbocharger or hybrid assistance, making it Ferrari's current core naturally aspirated GT power unit. Referring to the 30 horsepower upgrade of the 812 Competizione compared to the standard 812 Superfast, it is predicted that after the engine of this high-performance version is upgraded with internal lightweight components, and its valve train and exhaust system are restructured, the maximum power is expected to exceed 860 horsepower, with the redline speed approaching 10000 rpm. The high-rev sound performance will be further enhanced, maximizing the acoustic characteristics of large-displacement naturally aspirated engines.

It is worth mentioning that the biggest highlight of the new model lies in its transmission configuration. The new model is very likely to offer the optional Manuale By-Wire drive-by-wire simulated manual system specially developed by Ferrari for the 12Cilindri Manuale limited edition. This system is not a traditional mechanical manual transmission; it still retains the original 8-speed dual-clutch transmission at its core, with a clutch pedal, a classic H-type open metal shift base and a spherical aluminum alloy shift knob added in the cabin, forming a three-pedal layout. There is no rigid mechanical connection between the shift lever, clutch pedal and the transmission. The system collects operation signals through sensors, and the on-board computer controls the dual clutch to complete the shift action. It can simulate the operating feel of traditional manual transmissions such as half-clutch, rev matching during downshifts, and shift damping, supporting 6 manual gears. Meanwhile, it retains the automatic mode, which can be switched back to the conventional DCT automatic mode in congested urban road conditions, solving the shortcoming of pure manual models in daily commuting.
