[AUTOHOME News] On July 30, the first mass-produced model of the FREELANDER brand, FREELANDER 8, officially rolled off the production line at Chery Jaguar Land Rover's Changshu Plant, and pre-sales will kick off on August 10. The FREELANDER 8 is positioned as a range-extended SUV. In the future, all products of the FREELANDER full lineup will be produced at this plant.

In terms of exterior design, the FREELANDER 8 inherits the design language of the Concept 97 concept car, adopting a square, rugged boxy body contour. The front face is equipped with a closed new energy grille, with a luminous FREELANDER letter logo embedded in the center, paired with split rectangular light clusters, and raised ribs are set on the hood. The side lines of the body are straight, equipped with wide-body wheel arches, hidden door handles, and an integrated roof rack; the rear adopts a vertically cut tailgate layout.

In terms of body dimensions, the length, width and height of the new car are 5118 (5185)/2050/1898mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 3040mm. The vehicle comes standard with a 2+2+2 six-seat independent seat layout, supports optional towing devices, and has a maximum total mass of towed trailers of 2000kg.

The paint is divided into regular color series and launch limited paint. Regular color options include Cloud Top White, Polar Night Black, Glowing Copper, Fjord Blue, and Highlight Streamer Silver; the launch limited paint offers Hot Golden Lemon, Twilight Purple, and Matte Streamer Silver, and the matte paint adopts nano ceramic clear coat technology.

The interior adopts a wraparound layout, equipped with a 46.3-inch 8K panoramic remote display, paired with a 15.6-inch Mini LED central control touch screen; the steering wheel adopts an optimized square shape to reduce screen obstruction. The vehicle retains physical control buttons, 144-cut K9 optical crystal dual suspended crystal crown knobs, and is equipped with 256-color dual-aperture suspended ambient light. The seat layout is six independent seats, and the second row adopts an independent aviation seat structure.

Notably, the FREELANDER 8 is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 automotive-grade chip. Furthermore, the entire lineup of the new car comes standard with Huawei Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 4.1 system, equipped with 896-line LiDAR sensing hardware, and the official marks that the hardware can identify 14cm obstacles at a maximum distance of 120 meters. The whole-vehicle sensing solution supports intelligent driving functions on expressways and urban areas, and functions can be expanded through OTA iteration subsequently.

The off-road kit is equipped with i-ATS intelligent all-terrain system, which can identify road surface conditions and match traffic strategies. The hardware configuration includes a front mechanical differential lock, a rear electronic limited-slip differential, a virtual central differential structure, and it is equipped with dual-chamber closed air suspension.

In terms of power, the FREELANDER 8 will be equipped with range-extended power system. The 1.5T range extender has a maximum power of 115kW, paired with a 60.331kWh ternary lithium battery pack, and the pure electric cruising range is 221km. It is also equipped with i-ATS intelligent all-terrain system, front mechanical differential lock, rear e-LSD limited-slip differential, virtual central lock, closed dual-chamber air suspension, etc. (Text/Li Na, AUTOHOME )
