【AUTOHOME New Car Launch】In the new energy electric off-road segment, models such as Great Wall Tank series, BYD Fangchengbao and Mengshi brand have already gained a firm foothold. Geely entered the market relatively late, but this time it brings its first retro boxy off-road vehicle: Galaxy Battleship 700. The car is equipped with a three-motor four-wheel drive system, with a combined peak power of 830 kW. The official promotional video even shows the footage of it conquering Nisandongguo off-road trail from a standing start, fully demonstrating its hardcore strength. Today we will carry out a static analysis of its core highlights.

Exterior: Retro boxy styling, size benchmarked against Tank 500

At first glance, Galaxy Battleship 700 exudes a strong retro vibe. The classic combination of boxy body and round light groups immediately maximizes its tough and highly recognizable attributes.

The body dimensions are 5085mm in length, 1999mm in width, 1912mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2900mm. Its overall size is close to that of Tank 500, and its direct competitors include not only Tank 500, but also Mengshi M817 and Zongheng G700, targeting the mid-to-large new energy off-road SUV market.

The hood is covered with raised ribs, full of muscular sense. But if you look closely, you will find that these ribs are closed decorative parts without ventilation openings. The front bumper adopts a modular design, reserving sufficient space for subsequent modification.

The core off-road parameters are clear at a glance: approach angle of 30°, minimum ground clearance of 233mm. For comparison, the long-wheelbase new Tank 300 we shot earlier has an approach angle of 38°, ground clearance of 235mm, departure angle of 31°, and maximum wading depth of 800mm -- the wading depth of Galaxy Battleship 700 is the same as that of Tank 300. In terms of extreme rock climbing attributes, the tuning of Galaxy 700 is relatively conservative. The side lines of the body are tough and straight, and the tailgate adopts a vertical cutting design, which effectively enhances the off-road atmosphere.

The display vehicle is equipped with 20-inch Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, with a moderate visual effect. Another display vehicle is equipped with 18-inch Cooper AT3 all-terrain tires, which can not only easily cope with unpaved roads, but also have a more off-road style visually.

A lidar is installed above the windshield, and the whole vehicle is equipped with a full set of high-level intelligent driving hardware, which is sufficient to ensure the intelligent driving experience in urban commuting and high-speed cruising scenarios.

The rear adopts the design of side-opening tailgate + external spare tire, which is the standard configuration of boxy SUVs. The roof reserves mounting positions for heavy-duty luggage racks. When you open the left-hinged tailgate, you can see the factory-equipped inflatable mattress, which demonstrates the "big bed mode" function: after folding the rear seat cushion forward, the entire trunk area is completely flat. The trunk is equipped with a large number of outdoor-friendly configurations: anchor points, multi-functional hooks, physical buttons for chassis height adjustment, and 220V power interface, which makes outdoor power access very convenient.

Interior: Retro physical buttons matched with large screens, off-road attributes and household configurations are fully equipped

The interior design concept is similar to that of Zongheng G700, and it does not follow the radical minimalist full-touch route. Large screens and physical buttons coexist, taking into account the sense of technology and the exclusive mechanical touch of off-road vehicles, and the integration of retro and modern is just right.

The central control touch screen is equipped with Flyme Auto infotainment system, and its smoothness and functionality are beyond doubt. All seats of the car are equipped with a full set of comfort configurations including ventilation, heating and massage. A large number of physical buttons are arranged in the central control area, as well as an independent air conditioning control panel. The gear shifter adopts the shape of aircraft throttle lever, with extremely high recognition. The left side of the gear shifter is the conventional driving mode control area, and the right side reserves the off-road mode adjustment area. Since the electric four-wheel drive system dynamically distributes inter-axle torque through software, the exclusive off-road shortcut key area can quickly switch between lock and crawl modes, with more direct torque response and easier to get out of trouble.

There is a row of exclusive off-road control buttons behind the gear shifter, including rear differential lock, low-speed four-wheel drive and tank turn functions -- these are the small easter eggs with mechanical texture loved by off-road enthusiasts. A small disadvantage is that these buttons are close to the cup holder, and tall bottled drinks may partially block the buttons, so attention should be paid in daily use.

The front row is fully equipped with practical configurations, and a wireless charging pad is standard. The central channel is equipped with a 18.5L large-capacity cold and warm box, which can be opened by both front and rear rows. The co-pilot is equipped with a narrow multimedia information display screen and a thick armrest, which further strengthens the tough atmosphere of the cockpit.

Chassis and power: 2.0T three-speed DHT + three-motor four-wheel drive

For hardcore off-road vehicles, power and chassis are the core highlights. The top version of Galaxy Battleship 700 is equipped with 2.0T engine + three-speed DHT hybrid system + three-motor four-wheel drive layout, and a 1.5T entry-level version will be launched later. The 2.0T version has a combined peak output of 830kW, the rear axle adopts a dual-motor design with a built-in rear differential lock, and it can realize iconic functions such as crab walk mode and tank turn when matched with the front axle motor. The suspension adopts front and rear double wishbone + air spring configuration, the body is a unibody structure, which is similar to Land Rover Defender in concept, with a torsional rigidity of 41000N·m/deg. The officially released video of climbing Nisandongguo from a standing start proves that its power burst is fast enough, and the thermal management performance of the motor under continuous high load is also worth looking forward to. The continuous crawling ability under actual rock road conditions still needs to be verified by subsequent off-road tests.

Rear space and comfort configurations: Fully optimized for household use, standard on-board oxygen generator

The rear seats support manual backrest angle adjustment, and are close to a flat lying posture when folded down. The length, height and filling softness of the seat cushion are balanced, and the support for long-distance riding is excellent. A foldable small table board is installed behind the front passenger seat. In order to adapt to the completely flat "big bed mode", the rear air outlet is set on the B-pillar, which does not affect the normal air output even when the seat is fully folded down, which is a very thoughtful design detail.

Summary: Improve Geely's off-road product matrix, and subsequent pricing is the key

Looking at the domestic off-road market, Great Wall has a complete Tank series, BYD has laid out Fangchengbao and Yangwang in the high-end segment, and Geely lacked corresponding hardcore products before. Galaxy Battleship 700 directly fills the gap of the brand's new energy off-road products. Relying on 830kW three-motor power, high-rigidity unibody body, air suspension, full-stack off-road functions, and rich configurations taking into account family travel and camping, the basic quality of Geely's first boxy SUV is very competitive, and it is ready to make great achievements after entering the market.
