[AutoHome New Car Debut] On July 23, BYD Qin MAX was officially unveiled. Positioned as a mid-size car, it will fill the product gap between BYD Qin L and Han. The Qin MAX has a wheelbase of 2820mm, and is also equipped with flash charging technology and the Eye of God B driver assistance system. It is reported that the plug-in hybrid version of the model is expected to launch first in August, and the pure electric version is scheduled to go on sale within the third quarter.
Looking at the new car, its exterior continues the family-style Dragon Face aesthetic design of BYD Dynasty Network. The through trim strip paired with narrow light groups gives it a high recognition. The lower bumper adopts a three-stage design, with air vents equipped on both sides, presenting a good sense of sportiness overall. The pure electric version is equipped with a front trunk, which supports double-click opening.
Moving to the side of the car, it still adopts a fastback shape, and is equipped with semi-hidden door handles. In terms of dimensions, the new car has a length, width and height of 4866/1880/1495mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2820mm, and offers 18-inch rims. At the rear, it adopts the classic Chinese knot through-type taillight of the Dynasty family, with prominent visual layering.
For the interior, the new car will offer a brand-new Dawn Purple color scheme. The front row is equipped with a double-spoke multifunctional steering wheel, LCD instrument cluster, HUD head-up display, floating central control screen and steering column-mounted gear shift design. The central island area has a 50W wireless fast charging panel and physical buttons, and the armrest box is still equipped with an on-board refrigerator. In addition, the front seats of the vehicle also support heating, ventilation and massage functions. In terms of driving assistance, the new car will be equipped with Eye of God B, which supports high-level intelligent driving.
In terms of power, the pure electric version offers two rear-mounted single motors of 120kW and 240kW, matched with the second-generation Blade Battery. The battery capacities are 52.868kWh and 64.315kWh respectively, corresponding to CLTC cruising ranges of 530km and 630km respectively. The plug-in hybrid version is equipped with a combination of 1.5L engine and electric motor, among which the engine has a maximum power of 74kW and the electric motor has a maximum power of 175kW. It is matched with 25.287kWh or 34.275kWh battery, and the pure electric cruising ranges under CLTC conditions are 220km and 300km respectively. The chassis adopts front MacPherson strut + rear five-link independent suspension, the DiSus-C intelligent body control system is optional, and it is also equipped with flash charging technology.
Competitors:
As a brand-new mid-size car, the competitors of BYD Qin MAX naturally remind people of domestic new energy products such as Geely Galaxy A7/Xingyao 7 and Deepal L06. However, judging from the sales performance in the first half of the year, the mid-size car market is still dominated by overseas brands and fuel vehicles. Whether BYD Qin MAX can challenge the status of models such as Camry, Passat and Magotan remains to be seen.
