[AUTOHOME Official New Car Images] Recently, official images of Volvo's 40 Series have been released. The new series includes the XC40, EX40, and EC40, covering fuel-powered SUVs, all-electric SUVs, and all-electric coupe SUVs, and is positioned as compact SUVs. The new models have been optimized in terms of exterior and interior design, in-vehicle infotainment system, advanced driving assistance, and active safety system. The new vehicles will officially enter production later this autumn.

In terms of exterior, the new 40 Series is equipped with newly styled "Thor's Hammer" matrix LED headlights, with detailed optimizations made to Volvo's iconic lighting signature. At the rear, the XC40 and EX40 are equipped with new LED taillights, an improved tailgate, and a redesigned rear bumper; the EC40 retains its original highly recognizable rear styling. The XC40 adds new 18-inch, 19-inch, and 20-inch diamond-cut style wheels.

In terms of interior, a variety of new combinations of premium fabrics and interior trim panels are available. The XC40 offers Ariani Cardamom leather interior for the first time, which can be paired with brown and white ash wood trim panels; the vehicle also features optimized ambient interior lighting, and users can also choose black and white ash wood or aluminum trim panels. The interior continues the practical design concept, equipped with optimized configurations such as a wireless charging pad and multiple sets of storage spaces, and the cabin space can flexibly meet the different usage needs of the driver and family members.

The new 40 Series has Google's new generation AI assistant Google Gemini built in, which supports natural conversational interaction, can perform operations such as route planning, waypoint search, and message processing during driving, and can smoothly understand daily spoken instructions.

In terms of safety, when the system identifies potential collision risks, the vehicle can react in real time, issue a warning to the driver, or actively intervene to avoid collisions and reduce impact damage. The vehicle is equipped with automatic emergency steering and automatic emergency braking functions, which can perform optimal safety handling actions at the moment of danger. The above safety capability upgrades are realized based on the new software and sensor platform. The new vehicle is equipped with a new forward radar, front-view camera, etc., 12 new ultrasonic sensors and a new generation of parking cameras, which expand the perception range and accuracy of the surrounding environment, and enhance the driver's driving confidence.

The door open warning function can remind occupants when they open the door, avoiding collisions between the door and passing non-motor vehicles or other road users. The optional Pilot Assist system adds a lane change assist function, and the smoothness of the driving trajectory has been optimized. The optional 360-degree panoramic camera has been upgraded to a 3D view mode, reducing the difficulty of parking and low-speed maneuvering operations.

The XC40 is equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged engine, which provides two power outputs corresponding to two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, with maximum power of 163 horsepower and 197 horsepower respectively, matched with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. The all-electric versions EX40 and EC40 will offer four-wheel drive models with a combined power of 436 horsepower, and their WLTP all-electric ranges are 575 kilometers and 584 kilometers respectively.
