[AUTOHOME News] Recently, BYD officially announced that the Sea Lion 08 will be officially launched on September 2! The new model just made its debut at the 2026 Chengdu Motor Show, positioned as the flagship SUV of BYD Ocean Network. It offers two power versions: plug-in hybrid and pure electric, equipped with the second-generation Blade Battery, flash charging technology, and Tianshen Eye 5.0 high-level intelligent driving assistance system. Among them, the pure electric version has a maximum CLTC range of up to 900km.
In terms of exterior design, the BYD Sea Lion 08 follows the ocean aesthetic design concept of the Ocean S concept car, featuring a simple, smooth and highly futuristic overall styling. The front end is equipped with exclusive wavy daytime running lights, matched with vertical split headlights below, while retaining a functional air intake grille, balancing both aesthetic appeal and practicality.
The side profile of the Sea Lion 08 features stretched and rounded lines, with a smooth waistline running from the front to the rear of the vehicle, paired with semi-flush door handles. The rear is equipped with full-width taillights, which echo the design of the front daytime running lights. In terms of dimensions, the new car measures 5115mm in length, 1999mm in width and 1800mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3030mm.
For the interior, the Sea Lion 08 continues the wrap-around cockpit design of the Ocean Network, equipped with a floating central control screen. Its screen size can be visually referenced to that of the Seal 08 (15.6 inches). Meanwhile, the vehicle is also fitted with a LCD instrument screen, which is not independently designed, but integrated with the central control panel. The overall interior layout of the Sea Lion 08's front row is similar to that of the Seal 08, with differences only in details such as air conditioning vents and the shape of central control lines.
The second row of the vehicle is equipped with a 21.4-inch ceiling-mounted screen, matched with a 25-speaker Devialet sound system, as well as a refrigerator, function control screen and small table. In addition, the interior shown in official images adopts a 6-seat layout, and the second row is equipped with horizontally movable zero-gravity seats that support ventilation, heating, massage and other functions. According to previous information, the vehicle will also offer a 5-seat version.
The Sea Lion 08 comes with BYD's flagship technical configurations across the entire lineup, adopting the second-generation Blade Battery, CTB (Cell to Body) battery-body integration technology, flash charging technology, and the fifth-generation DM hybrid technology, among others. Meanwhile, the new car is equipped with rear-wheel steering, DiSus-A intelligent body control system, dual-chamber air suspension and road preview system.
In terms of power, the plug-in hybrid version is equipped with a 1.5T plug-in hybrid system, with the engine delivering a maximum power of 115kW. It is available in single-motor and dual-motor versions: the single-motor version has a maximum power of 200kW, while the dual-motor version has a maximum power of 200kW for both front and rear motors. In terms of range, its pure electric range under WLTC conditions is 275km and 300km, and the maximum pure electric range under CLTC conditions can reach 400km.
The pure electric version offers three power configurations, including two single-motor versions and one dual-motor version. Among them, the single-motor versions have a maximum power of 320kW and 370kW respectively, and the dual-motor version has a maximum power of 215kW for the front motor and 370kW for the rear motor. The pure electric version is equipped with two battery options of 92.093kWh and 115.072kWh, with CLTC ranges of 710km, 800km and 900km respectively.
