Volkswagen is covering all the popular areas of the car market with its EV line-up. First there was the ID.3 hatchback and now there’s this: the ID.4. Built to rival the Tesla Model Y, Ford Mustang Mach-E and the Skoda Enyaq - the ID.4 brings all the funkyness of the ID.3 and transfers it into a crossover body. In fact, we’d argue that it looks more interesting than its hatchback sibling.
The only problem is the ID.4 comes in First Edition form only at launch, which costs £40,000. That’s not far off the price of a new Tesla Model 3, and likely not much cheaper than the Model Y when it becomes available in the UK. So should you buy the launch edition car or waiting for the cheaper trim levels that are due to arrive later down the line?
