[AUTOHOME New Car Launch] On September 23, the new Geely Galaxy E5 was officially launched, with a total of 5 models available, and the official guide price ranges from 97,800 to 137,800 yuan. In addition to the adjustment of exterior design, the biggest change of the new E5 is the switch from front-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive. It is also equipped with a lidar, the Qianli Haohan H5 advanced driving assistance system, 6C ultra-fast charging technology and a new generation of Shendun short-blade battery, achieving a comprehensive innovation in configuration and further enhancing its market competitiveness.
New Car Introduction:
In terms of appearance, the new Geely Galaxy E5 largely retains the design style of the current model. The closed front grille paired with the slim headlight cluster delivers good recognizability. Meanwhile, the front bumper design has been adjusted, with matte chrome elements added as decoration, and the slightly shovel-shaped front lip properly enhances the sporty feel of the vehicle. In addition, the car is equipped with a lidar, and it is expected to be fitted with the Qianli Haohan H5 intelligent driving solution.
In terms of body dimensions, the new car has a length, width and height of 4636mm/1920mm/1670mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2750mm. The length and width parameters are improved compared with the current model. A new camera has been added to the fender, the second-row windows are equipped with privacy glass, and the door handles return to the traditional style instead of the hidden type. The new car offers brand-new style rims in two specifications of 18 inches and 19 inches, with corresponding tire sizes of 225/55 R18 and 235/50 R19 respectively.
The rear of the car adopts a through-type taillight cluster, and Geely's English brand logo is added below the taillight cluster to enrich the visual layering. A camera is installed on the top to enhance the vehicle's ability to recognize the environment at the rear.
In terms of interior, the design of the current model is also retained, including the large-size floating central control screen. The new car is equipped with a new-style steering wheel, and the three-spoke steering wheel is more convenient to operate. In addition, the car is fitted with a new crystal knob with better texture. The new car also introduces configurations such as a head-up display (HUD), an intelligent robot, a mobile phone wireless charging module, Flyme Sound speakers, and a zero-gravity seat for the front passenger. The new model will have a large 160L frunk at the front, further improving storage capacity, which was not available on the previous Galaxy E5.
In terms of power, the new car is still equipped with a single motor, but the four main trim models are developed based on the full-domain 800V architecture, switching from front-engine front-wheel drive to rear-engine rear-wheel drive, with better power performance than the current model. The maximum power of the motor is 245kW, which is 85kW higher than that of the current model. One model is retained with the front-engine front-wheel drive layout, based on the 400V architecture, and the maximum power of the motor is 160kW. The new main models are equipped with technologies such as Geely AI intelligent charging, 6C ultra-fast charging and the new generation of Shendun short-blade battery. The rear-wheel drive version adopts a front MacPherson + rear five-link suspension combination, and some models are equipped with CCD variable damping shock absorbers; the front-wheel drive version adopts a front MacPherson + rear four-link suspension combination. The new E5 is equipped with three versions of lithium iron phosphate battery packs of 60.22kWh, 61.52kWh and 70.01kWh, with three cruising range versions of 530km, 550km and 635km.

The competition in China's pure electric SUV market has long been intense. The new Galaxy E5 will face competitors such as BYD Yuan PLUS, BYD Sea Lion 05 EV, GAC Toyota bZ3X, and Deepal S05.
