[Autohome New Car Debut] On September 24, Beijing time, Bentley's first pure electric SUV, the Torcal, made its global debut in London, UK. Meanwhile, its suggested domestic retail price was announced at 1,988,000 yuan (excluding taxes and paid optional configurations), and pre-sales officially kicked off in China. Positioned as a luxury urban SUV, the new model is the fourth major product line following the Continental, Flying Spur and Bentayga. Three exclusive versions, namely the Torcal Base Edition, Torcal S Streamer Edition and Torcal S Mystic Night Edition, are launched simultaneously to meet the luxury travel needs of different users.

In terms of exterior design, the Bentley Torcal adopts a brand-new design language, reshaping the imposing aura of ultra-luxury SUVs. Created by the team led by Bentley's Chief Design Director Robin Page, the new model takes four "perception dimensions" as the core design logic, balancing the classic brand heritage and future technological texture. The Streamer Edition and Mystic Night Edition are exclusive to the Chinese market, equipped with exclusive appearance kits. Among them, the Streamer Edition is equipped with silver polished trims and 22-inch turbine-style tungsten grey cut wheels, focusing on an elegant and light luxury style; the Mystic Night Edition has its entire vehicle emblems and metal decorative parts blackened, matched with 22-inch S-shaped black cut wheels, emphasizing a sporty atmosphere.
The front face of the Bentley Torcal adopts a closed intake grille, with a circle of luminous trim on the outer edge of the grille, and illuminable diamond patterns inside the grille. The daytime running lights on both sides are composed of two horizontal lines and two vertical lines, and the multiple high/low beam lamp heads are separated by the vertical lines of the daytime running lights. The entire front face design is very distinctive, striking a balance between a sense of luxury and technological sophistication. The bottom of the new car's front bumper is equipped with a large-sized intake grille with diamond grid texture inside, and the forward millimeter-wave radar of the advanced driver-assistance system is integrated in the center.
Turning to the side of the vehicle, the new model adopts a short front overhang and long wheelbase design, creating a sense of strength through simple surface light and shadow effects. The rear wheel arch has a raised shape, presenting the poised posture of a "resting beast" ready to pounce.
EXP 15 Concept Car
The rear of the Bentley Torcal inherits the design concept of the EXP 15 concept car, with clean and sharp lines that highlight the high-end sense of the design. The taillights adopt a slender design, with diamond-shaped luminous elements inside the lamp cavity, filling every detail with exquisite craftsmanship. The bottom of the rear bumper is equipped with a large-sized silver trim plate, which adjusts the visual center of gravity of the rear and makes it look more dynamic.
In terms of interior, the design of the Torcal's center console is inspired by the brand's double-wing emblem. The center console adopts a symmetrical shape, and the clean and pure curved surface maximizes the original texture of natural materials such as leather, wood trim and aluminum trim. The interior retains the physical knurled knobs and the classic bullseye air vents, paired with physical function buttons, fully preserving the delicate tactile experience of mechanical operation.
The central control screen in the Torcal's cockpit adopts a curved OLED screen with delicate color rendering and high contrast, which conforms to the ergonomic viewing angle. An AR-HUD head-up display is equipped directly in front of the driver, which can display information such as navigation, assisted driving and road conditions. The brand-new face recognition system can automatically load personalized settings for the seat, steering wheel and assisted driving system based on the driver's facial data. The new car also supports the mobile phone digital key function, improving the convenience of vehicle use.
Notably, the new car is equipped for the first time with the world's first 100% Merino wool automotive fabric certified by the RWS (Responsible Wool Standard), breaking the traditional misconception that wool materials are not suitable for automotive interiors, with a warm and durable touch. Meanwhile, the interior is matched with MULLINER's exclusive custom gradient wood trim, which is made by laminating and cutting thousands of layers of sustainable walnut wood veneers and recycled paper, achieving a natural four-color gradient effect. In addition, the interior of the new car adopts three-way brushed aluminum trim panels to enhance the interior texture.
In terms of interior color matching, the Torcal offers 15 leather colors, 15 Dinamica fabric options, 5 pure Merino wool fabric options, 6 wood veneer options, 2 tech veneer options and 6 piano lacquer wood veneer options, meeting the personalized customization needs of high-end users.
In terms of cockpit configuration, the front seats of the Torcal come standard with 16-way electric adjustment, supporting functions such as heating, ventilation and massage. Bentley's brand-new intelligent sitting posture and seat temperature and humidity adjustment system supports automatic fine-tuning of the seat shape, optimization of the occupant's body pressure distribution, and automatic adaptation to the ambient temperature, greatly improving long-distance riding comfort. The seat massage function covers the entire shoulder, back, waist and leg areas.
For the first time, the new car is equipped with electric folding function for the rear seats, further improving the flexibility and convenience of space expansion. The front trunk volume of the new car is 90L, and the conventional trunk volume is 460L, which can meet the daily travel storage needs of most users.
The new car is equipped with a panoramic sunroof, and frosted diamond dimming glass is available as an option, which can freely adjust the light atmosphere in the cockpit, balancing privacy and transparency. The Bentley intelligent driving mode function can link the cockpit lighting, soundscape, temperature and humidity, air quality and multimedia system. The Bentley mode balances dynamism and comfort, the Comfort mode focuses on quietness and minimalism, the Sport mode enhances the dynamic atmosphere, and the Refresh mode optimizes air circulation, adapting to different travel needs of users.
The doors of the Torcal are equipped with an intelligent electric control opening and closing system, and the electric closing of the doors can be triggered by three methods: the seat belt buckle, the central control screen and the brake pedal. All vehicle function prompt tones are exclusively customized: the turn signal sound is taken from the original sound of interior craftsmen tapping leather, and the system prompt tone is derived from the sound of crystal clinking.
There are two versions of the in-car audio system available for the new car: the base version is a 620W high-end audio system with 16 speakers, and the high-end version is a 1780W Naim custom audio system with 28 speakers, equipped with seat somatosensory vibration units and headrest speakers, supporting 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos, bringing an ultimate auditory experience.
In terms of the advanced driver-assistance system, the Bentley Torcal is equipped with 25 assisted driving sensors across the vehicle, including multiple millimeter-wave radars and cameras, realizing full-domain environmental perception, and features functions such as automatic avoidance and reversing on narrow roads, intelligent parallel parking, automatic garage parking, custom parking space parking, and mobile phone remote parking. In addition, the Torcal is equipped with a 5° rear-wheel steering system, with a turning diameter of 11 meters, improving the flexibility of the 5-meter-long vehicle when driving in urban road conditions.
In terms of the powertrain, the Bentley Torcal is based on an 800V high-voltage architecture, and the entire line is equipped with dual permanent magnet synchronous motors and a 113kWh battery pack, providing two power versions: high and low power. The base edition has a maximum power of 821 horsepower, a peak torque of 1194 N·m, and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 3.4 seconds; the Torcal S edition can deliver a maximum power of 888 horsepower in launch mode, with a peak torque of 1350 N·m, which is the highest torque parameter among current Bentley models, with a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 260km/h. In terms of range and charging, the CLTC pure electric range of the Bentley Torcal reaches 700km, supporting 310kW DC ultra-fast charging, and the charging time from 10% to 80% is 18 minutes.
In terms of the chassis, the new car is equipped with a brand-new fully active suspension system, matched with dual-valve adaptive shock absorbers, eliminating the traditional anti-roll bar component. It can independently adjust the height and damping of the shock absorbers in real time according to road conditions, realizing continuous adjustment of the anti-roll torque, and better balancing the ride comfort and handling performance of the vehicle. The vehicle is equipped with four driving modes for users to choose from, adapting to different scenarios such as urban commuting, high-speed cruising and light off-roading.
Notably, the Torcal is equipped with Bentley's exclusive Dynamic Symphony System, which is inspired by the sound of Bentley's classic 6.75L V8 engine by professional musicians, and is recorded and arranged with real instruments such as violins and drums. It dynamically adjusts the sound level according to the vehicle speed and torque output. The sound is more rich and surging in Sport mode, and can be turned off with one click during daily driving, balancing the sporty atmosphere and cockpit quietness.
As a milestone model in Bentley's electrification transformation, the Torcal does not blindly pursue the piling up of electrification technologies, but adheres to Bentley's century-old luxury core, deeply integrating top-level handcraftsmanship, sustainable materials, ultimate chassis technology and new energy vehicle technologies.
