[Auto Home New Car Launch] Recently, the Volkswagen ID.ERA 8X made its physical debut, and pre-sales will kick off on September 28. Positioned as a mid-to-large SUV, the new model adopts a large five-seat layout. Meanwhile, the vehicle will be equipped with a 1.5T range extender powertrain, with a maximum combined range of over 1500km. It is officially positioned as a "German-style driving and handling flagship SUV".
In terms of exterior design, the ID.ERA 8X is equipped with a Universal Light Wing through-type light strip, paired with iconic L-shaped daytime running lights, further enhancing the recognition of the vehicle's front face. Its headlights adopt the brand-new "six-core high-energy grid" light cluster design, with six longitudinal light core units forming the core visual structure, creating a highly layered lighting expression. The light cluster supports step-by-step lighting when unlocking/locking the vehicle, which not only enhances the welcome ceremony sense and interactive experience, but also presents vehicle status information through changes in lighting effects. In terms of body dimensions, the vehicle's length, width and height are 5020/1997/1750mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2970mm.
For the interior, the new model continues the design style of the Volkswagen ID.ERA 9X, and is equipped with a dual-spoke multifunction steering wheel, magic instrument screen, Smart surface magic door panel screen, 15.6-inch 2.5K dual central control screen and other configurations, creating a strong sense of technology. In terms of chassis, the ID.ERA 8X is equipped with the Smooth Motion Digital Chassis, which realizes millisecond-level full-domain dynamic control relying on the VMC chassis intelligent control center. At the hardware level, it is equipped with dual-chamber air suspension and intelligent pre-scanning magic carpet system, which can perceive the road conditions ahead in advance and actively adjust the suspension status.
In terms of power, the new model adopts a 1.5T range extender powertrain. The maximum power of the range extender is 105kW, and the peak power of the motor can reach 220kW. In terms of range, the ID.ERA 8X offers two battery versions of 51.1kWh and 65.2kWh. Among them, the 51.1kWh version has two WLTC pure electric ranges of 275km and 260km, and the 65.2kWh version has two WLTC pure electric ranges of 330km and 345km. According to official data, the 51.1kWh battery pack has a CLTC pure electric range of over 340km and a combined range of over 1400km; the 65.2kWh version has a CLTC pure electric range of over 400km and a combined range of over 1500km.
