[AUTOHOME News] Recently, we learned from smart official sources that the smart Elf #2 will be officially launched in mid-November. Previously, the official has announced that the new model will make its global debut at the Paris Motor Show held on October 12. As the successor of the classic fortwo model under the smart brand, the smart Elf #2 can be regarded as a generational replacement product. Built on the self-developed ECA pure electric compact architecture, it is still positioned as a microcar and only adopts a pure electric powertrain.

Previously, the smart Elf #2 has already submitted its filing to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) for approval. The overall styling of the new car continues the design concept of smart after its electrification transformation. The front headlight cluster adopts an irregular shape design with built-in LED daytime running light clusters. The front bumper is equipped with a large-sized ventilation and heat dissipation opening, the front grille features capsule-shaped holes, and both sides of the bumper are also equipped with vertically arranged ventilation openings, making the overall matching more agile. The new car still adopts a two-door, two-seater design, paired with a two-tone body and traditional door handles, and a variety of 15-inch and 16-inch wheel styles are available.

At the rear, the new car is equipped with a roof spoiler, the taillight cluster adopts an irregular circular design, and the internal light source presents a double-strip style, which has a certain degree of recognizability when lit. The middle of the tailgate is designed with a recessed license plate frame area, the rear bumper design forms an integrated shape with the body, while a two-stage rear diffuser decorative panel is equipped at the bottom, with reverse light and fog light clusters built in the middle. In terms of body dimensions, the new car measures 2751 (2764)/1669/1555mm in length, width and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 1875mm.

It is worth mentioning that among the optional configurations, the new car also provides an exterior body kit similar to that of the concept car, which includes splitters on both sides of the front bumper, different styles of heat dissipation openings, side skirts with splitters, and a rear bumper with splitters.

In terms of power, the new car will be equipped with a 60kW rear-mounted single motor, and the battery will be a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. Meanwhile, according to previous information, the battery pack of the new car is expected to be larger than 30kWh, and its CLTC pure electric driving range is expected to reach 400 kilometers.
